Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated SR Commercial HVAC Start Up and Service Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, start-up, maintenance, and repair of commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, and mechanical systems. Responsibilities
- Perform start-up procedures for new HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, chillers, and refrigeration equipment to ensure proper operation according to design specifications.
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC/R systems utilizing schematics, electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters, and mechanical testing equipment.
- Conduct routine maintenance on HVAC systems including cleaning, calibrating controls, replacing filters, and inspecting mechanical components to maximize system lifespan.
- Diagnose electrical issues within HVAC systems using electrical diagnostics techniques; repair or replace faulty wiring, relays, contactors, or control boards.
- Install HVAC equipment and building automation systems (BAS), ensuring compliance with safety standards such as EPA regulations for refrigerants and ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to review schematics and HVAC design plans; provide technical guidance during system installation or upgrades.
- Maintain detailed service records, reports on repairs performed, system diagnostics findings, and follow-up recommendations for ongoing property maintenance.
- Ensure all work adheres to safety protocols including proper handling of refrigerants and electrical components; utilize hand tools effectively for mechanical repairs.
Experience
- Proven construction experience with a strong background in HVAC system installation, start-up procedures, and ongoing service support.
- Extensive service technician experience working on commercial HVAC/R systems including air conditioning units, boilers, chillers, refrigeration (including ammonia refrigeration), and building automation controls.
- Familiarity with schematics, mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, and HVAC design principles necessary for troubleshooting complex systems.
- Mechanical knowledge encompassing plumbing connections, mechanical systems repair, equipment troubleshooting, and HVAC system maintenance.
- Hands-on experience with electrical diagnostics using tools like ohmmeters; capable of diagnosing electrical issues within HVAC/R equipment.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients; committed to delivering professional service at all times.
- Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling; experience working with ammonia refrigeration is a plus.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in field service environments; valid van driver’s license preferred for transportation between job sites.

Pay: $25.00 - $45.00 per hour
