Licensed Plumber / Plumbing Operations Manager
Blue Tide Plumbing – Chicago South SuburbsPart-Time to Start | $50+/hour | Growth Opportunity
Blue Tide is a new residential plumbing service company launching in the Chicago south suburbs. We are looking for an Illinois Licensed Plumber who is interested in helping build and lead the plumbing side of the business from the ground up.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced plumber who likes the idea of getting involved with a growing company early, without having to take on the financial risk or administrative work of starting a business alone.
The Situation
The owner of Blue Tide will handle the business side of the company, including marketing, customer acquisition, scheduling, bookkeeping, technology, vehicles, insurance, purchasing, and overall business development.
We are looking for the right licensed plumber to help manage the technical and field side of the plumbing operation.
The position will be part-time initially while the customer base is being built, with the potential to grow into a full-time leadership position as call volume increases.
For the right candidate, the position may also include serving as Blue Tide’s Plumber of Record, provided the candidate is eligible and comfortable taking on that responsibility. This would be a genuine management and operational role—we are not looking to rent or simply use someone’s plumbing license.
Responsibilities
- Perform residential plumbing service and repair work
- Help oversee the technical side of Blue Tide’s plumbing operation
- Help establish service procedures and quality standards
- Ensure work is performed properly and in accordance with applicable plumbing codes
- Assist with permitting and compliance when required
- Help determine the tools and equipment needed for the company
- Provide input on estimating and pricing plumbing jobs
- Help evaluate and eventually train additional plumbers/apprentices
- Communicate professionally with residential customers
- Participate in the continued development of Blue Tide’s plumbing operation
What We’re Looking For
- Active Illinois plumbing license in good standing
- Residential service plumbing experience
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Professional and dependable
- Good communication and customer-service skills
- Comfortable working independently
- Interested in helping build systems and processes for a growing company
- Leadership or supervisory experience is a plus, but not required
- Ability to potentially serve as Plumber of Record is a major plus
Compensation
Starting at $50+/hour, depending on experience and responsibilities.
Additional compensation can be discussed if the candidate takes on ongoing management and/or Plumber-of-Record responsibilities.
What Blue Tide Provides
Blue Tide will handle and invest in the business infrastructure needed to grow the company, including:
- Marketing and lead generation
- Scheduling and customer communication
- Business administration and bookkeeping
- Company branding
- Work vehicle/equipment as the operation develops
- Technology and payment systems
- Insurance and business infrastructure
- Continued investment in growing the customer base
You focus primarily on helping us deliver excellent plumbing work. We focus on building the business and keeping the schedule filled.
Where We Want to Go
Our goal isn’t to create another high-pressure plumbing company.
We want to build a professional residential service company with straightforward pricing, quality workmanship, good customer service, and a strong reputation in the south suburbs.
As Blue Tide grows, there is an opportunity for the right person to grow with the company and take on a larger plumbing operations leadership role.
