Ready to Build Something of Your Own?
Merritt Plumbing is looking for an experienced, licensed plumber who is ready for the next step in their career.
We have built a highly successful plumbing company with deep roots in new construction. Now, we're investing in the next stage of our growth: building a strong residential service division.
We're looking for the person who wants to lead it.
This is not a traditional Service Manager position where you step into an established department and maintain someone else's systems. You'll have the opportunity to help build the division, develop the team, establish the culture, and grow the business from the ground up—with the resources and stability of an established plumbing company behind you.
If you've ever thought, "I know how a great service department should be run," this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
Who We're Looking For
First and foremost, we're looking for a leader and builder.
You know plumbing, but you're ready to make your biggest impact through people.
You enjoy teaching. You can set expectations and hold people accountable. You know how to earn the respect of plumbers because you've done the work yourself. And you're excited by the challenge of taking a vision and turning it into a successful team.
Our ideal Service Manager:
- Is a licensed plumber with strong residential service experience
- Has the drive to build and grow a service department
- Is a natural leader who enjoys coaching and developing technicians
- Takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do
- Understands how to deliver an outstanding customer experience
- Communicates clearly with customers, technicians, office staff, and ownership
- Can establish processes and expectations while remaining flexible as the division grows
- Understands that a successful service department must take great care of both its customers and its people
- Is comfortable with technology and using data to improve performance
- Wants an opportunity to grow professionally as the division grows
What You'll Have the Opportunity to Build
You'll work directly with ownership to take the service division from its early stages into a strong, scalable part of Merritt Plumbing.
That means having a voice in:
- Recruiting and building your service team
- Training, coaching, and developing technicians
- Establishing service standards and processes utilizing our CertainPath best practices model
- Creating a culture of performance and accountability
- Developing the customer experience
- Implementing systems and technology
- Monitoring KPIs and technician performance
- Building opportunities for team members to grow
- Helping develop the strategy for expanding the division
- Creating a department capable of sustainable, profitable growth
You'll still need to roll up your sleeves—especially in the beginning. We're looking for someone who is comfortable being hands-on while building the team and who understands that leadership sometimes means jumping in wherever you're needed.
Our Core Values
How we accomplish our goals matters just as much as the results.
Excellence
We take pride in our work and expect a high standard from ourselves and our team.
Integrity
We do what's right for the customer, our teammates, and the company—even when no one is watching.
Service
We exist to serve. That means taking care of our customers and creating an environment where our employees can succeed.
Accountability
We own our responsibilities, our decisions, and our results. We don't make excuses—we find solutions.
Why Merritt Plumbing?
Merritt Plumbing has been family-owned and operated since 1984. Our foundation was built in new construction, where attention to detail, technical knowledge, scheduling, and doing the job right aren't optional.
We're bringing that same foundation to our growing service business.
You won't be starting with an unknown company or trying to build credibility from scratch. You'll have an established plumbing company, decades of industry experience, and a respected local name behind you.
But you'll also have something that's harder to find:
The opportunity to put your fingerprints on what comes next.
We're not looking for someone who simply wants the title of Service Manager.
We're looking for someone who wants to build a team, grow a division, develop people, and eventually be able to look back and say, "I helped build that."
If you're a licensed plumber who is ready to move beyond running calls and into building and leading a successful service operation, we'd like to talk.
