Journeyman/ Journeyman-Level Electrician
Commercial & Industrial / Wastewater Treatment Plant Construction
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Journeyman-Level Electrician to join our growing construction team. The ideal candidate will have strong commercial and industrial electrical experience, with a proven background working with 480V electrical systems and switchgear installation.Our projects primarily involve the construction of new wastewater treatment plants and related industrial facilities. This position requires a high level of technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform electrical installations on new wastewater treatment plants and industrial construction projects.
- Install, terminate, troubleshoot, and maintain 480V electrical systems.
- Install and connect switchgear, distribution panels, transformers, disconnects, motor control equipment, and related electrical components.
- Install conduit, cable tray, wire, and electrical raceway systems.
- Bend and install rigid conduit, EMT, PVC, and other conduit systems as required by project specifications.
- Pull, route, label, and terminate electrical conductors.
- Perform electrical connections for pumps, motors, control panels, instrumentation, and other wastewater treatment equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, one-line diagrams, schematics, construction drawings, and project specifications.
- Lay out electrical installations according to plans and actual field conditions.
- Identify conflicts between electrical drawings, equipment, piping, structures, and field conditions.
- Perform electrical testing and troubleshooting using appropriate meters and testing equipment.
- Coordinate electrical installations with plumbers, pipefitters, equipment installers, and other trades.
- Ensure installations meet applicable electrical codes, project specifications, and company standards.
- Maintain accurate and professional workmanship throughout all phases of construction.
- Follow company safety policies and applicable jobsite safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications
- Journeyman-level electrical experience required.
- Strong commercial and/or industrial electrical construction background.
- Previous experience with 480V systems and switchgear installation required.
- Experience with motors, pumps, motor controls, VFDs, MCCs, transformers, and industrial equipment is strongly preferred.
- Must be able to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, one-line diagrams, and construction drawings.
- Strong understanding of conduit layout, wire sizing, terminations, electrical distribution, and equipment connections.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and identify installation problems.
- Must be able to work independently with limited supervision while also working effectively as part of a construction team.
- Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and committed to quality workmanship.
- Must be physically capable of climbing ladders, lifting materials, bending, kneeling, and performing other construction-related activities.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Equipment operating experience is a plus.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Some travel is required depending on project location.
Work Environment
This is a hands-on construction position. Much of the work will be performed outdoors on active construction sites during the construction of new wastewater treatment facilities. Employees should be prepared to work in heat, cold, mud, and other typical construction-site conditions.
Compensation: $35 - $43 Hr
