Position Overview

Nippon Dynawave Packaging Company has an immediate opening for an Industrial Electrical & Instrumentation Maintenance Technician within our multi-craft maintenance organization.

This is a highly skilled industrial maintenance position responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and maintaining electrical, instrumentation, automation, and process control systems in a continuous-process manufacturing environment. Successful candidates will be experienced problem-solvers who can diagnose complex equipment failures, work safely around industrial systems, and contribute as part of a self-directed maintenance team.

Important: This is not primarily a construction or commercial electrical position. The role focuses on industrial maintenance, troubleshooting, instrumentation, process controls, automation systems, and manufacturing equipment reliability.

What You'll Do

Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain industrial electrical and instrumentation systems.
Diagnose problems with motors, motor control circuits, variable frequency drives (VFDs), PLCs, DCS systems, and process control equipment.
Calibrate and maintain electronic, pneumatic, and analytical instrumentation.
Troubleshoot and maintain control valves, transmitters, analyzers, and associated field devices.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, loop drawings, and technical documentation.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
Work closely with operations and maintenance personnel to safely resolve equipment issues and improve reliability.
Follow all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, and safe work practices.
Participate as an active member of a self-directed maintenance team.

Work Environment and Schedule Expectations

Work throughout an operating manufacturing facility with exposure to heat, humidity, noise, and outdoor conditions.
Climb, lift, and work in confined or elevated spaces as required.
Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work shifts, overtime, weekends, and emergency call-ins as business needs require.

Required Qualifications

Any combination of a journey-level electrical/instrumentation credential, industrial electrician qualification, equivalent apprenticeship completion, comparable industrial maintenance experience, and hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial electrical and instrumentation systems in a manufacturing or continuous-process environment. The combination must demonstrate journey-level competency and include at least three years of relevant hands-on experience.
Demonstrated commitment to safety and safe work practices.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including a methodical approach to identifying root causes.
Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with operations and maintenance teams.
Demonstrated competency using MS Office applications; maintenance related software.

Candidates should have direct experience in several of the following areas:

Electronic and pneumatic instrumentation.
Control valves and associated field equipment.
Industrial process control systems and electrical testing equipment.
Reading electrical drawings, P&IDs, loop sheets, and technical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in pulp and paper, chemical processing, refining or petrochemical operations, power generation, wood products manufacturing, or another continuous-process industrial facility is preferred. Additional beneficial experience includes:

Analytical instrumentation, including pH analyzers and similar process analyzers.
Predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
Multi-craft maintenance environments.
Mechanical maintenance skills.

What Success Looks Like

Safely perform electrical troubleshooting using established LOTO procedures.
Diagnose and repair three-phase motors and motor control systems.
Use PLC and DCS systems to support troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Troubleshoot instrumentation and process control loops.
Identify root causes through a systematic process rather than replacing components through trial and error.
Communicate effectively with operators and maintenance teammates during troubleshooting and repair activities.

Hiring Process

Candidates selected for further consideration should expect a structured behavioral interview, a technical interview focused on industrial electrical and instrumentation troubleshooting, a written assessment, and a practical skills assessment. Assessment areas may include electrical maintenance, instrumentation, motor controls, process controls, safety, and troubleshooting methodology.
