What this job involves:
As an HVAC Journeyman at JLL, you'll maintain optimal climate control and air quality across our diverse portfolio of commercial properties. This position requires a skilled technical professional who can independently diagnose, repair, and maintain complex heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, air handlers, and building automation systems. You'll collaborate with property managers and facility teams to deliver responsive service while adhering to rigorous safety standards and regulatory compliance.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on commercial HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, air handlers, and building automation systems
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system problems to identify root causes and implement effective solutions
- Respond promptly to service calls and emergency situations, ensuring minimal disruption to building operations
- Install new HVAC equipment and components according to specifications, blueprints, and building codes
- Conduct system start-ups, performance testing, and commissioning activities to verify proper operation and efficiency
- Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and equipment logs for all maintenance and repair activities
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations including EPA refrigerant handling requirements and safety protocols
Schedule: Wednesday - Saturday, second Shift, 2:00 PM - 12:00 AM
Four, ten-hour shifts
Required qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent with completion of a recognized HVAC apprenticeship program or vocational training
- Valid Journeyman HVAC license and EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification (Section 608)
- Minimum 4-6 years of hands-on experience with commercial HVAC systems
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
- Strong understanding of HVAC principles, refrigeration cycles, and control systems
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights, in confined spaces, and various weather conditions
Preferred qualifications:
- Additional certifications in specific equipment brands such as Trane, Carrier, or York
- Experience with chiller systems, boiler operations, and central plant equipment
- Knowledge of LEED standards and energy-efficient building practices
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Ability to mentor and train apprentice-level technicians
This position operates under the Local 877 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
