Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Marine Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will lead maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of a wide range of marine propulsion and mechanical systems on boats/engines ranging from 15' fishing boats with a single outboard motor, to ocean vessels with multiple engines (often diesel) and systems. Ability to travel required.

Duties
- Perform comprehensive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on marine engines, propulsion systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components using schematics and technical drawings.
- Point of contact and "babysitter" for customer boats. When a customer has a high end boat that gets used 1 or 2 times per year, while on vacation, they want it to work without issue. This often involves using, testing, repairing and maintaining the boat on a consistent, documented basis while the owner is away.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical issues utilizing multimeters such as ohmmeters, and conduct electrical diagnostics on ship electrical systems.
- Conduct rigging operations, fabrication, welding, soldering, and use precision measuring instruments like calipers to ensure precise repairs and modifications.
- Interpret technical manuals and schematics to accurately diagnose problems and implement effective solutions.
- Maintain water transportation equipment by executing routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with team members to assemble new equipment or retrofit existing systems while adhering to safety standards.
- Support customer service efforts by providing technical expertise during vessel maintenance or repair projects.
Requirements
- Proven service technician experience with marine maintenance.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience in ship electrical systems troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with schematics, technical drawings, fabrication techniques, and assembly processes.
- Experience working with marine propulsion systems, diesel engines, mechanical systems repair, and water transportation equipment maintenance.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and use diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and multimeters effectively.
- Ability to use computers, AI and software to find solutions, follow and refine a process for troubleshooting, lessons learned, documentation and efficacity
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, sheet metal work, soldering techniques, and fabrication tools.
- Military experience or background in engineering troubleshooting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of maintenance, repair & operations (MRO), heavy lifting procedures, and safety protocols including PPE use.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in physically demanding environments.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
