WANTED: A CRAFTSMAN
Cabinet & Furniture Maker | Tin Roof Kitchen & Home | El Campo, Texas
Not everything should come off an assembly line. Some things should still be built by people who know how to work with their hands—people who understand wood, notice when a joint isn't right, and know when "good enough" isn't good enough.
Tin Roof Kitchen & Home is looking for a Cabinet & Furniture Maker who wants to build things they're proud to put their name on.
The Work
We build custom. Tomorrow's project may look nothing like today's. You may build custom kitchens, vanities, built-ins, conference tables, bars, architectural millwork, one-of-a-kind furniture, or something we've never built before.
Some projects are straightforward. Others require you to study the drawings, look at the material, and figure out how we're going to build it. That's part of the job.
What You'll Do
- Build cabinets, face frames, doors, drawers, panels and custom furniture.
- Work with solid hardwoods, plywood, veneers and specialty materials.
- Operate saws, planers, jointers, sanders, routers and other woodworking equipment.
- Read drawings, dimensions and project details.
- Solve problems that come with custom work.
- Assist with delivery and installation.
- Make sure your work is right before it leaves your hands.
We're Looking for Someone Who...
- Takes pride in craftsmanship.
- Shows up on time, every day, ready to work.
- Is willing to stay late when a project requires it.
- Can work independently without someone standing over them.
- Pays attention to details other people miss.
- Understands that 1/8" matters.
- Takes care of tools and keeps an organized work area.
- Accepts constructive criticism without ego.
- Helps the people working beside them.
- Doesn't hide mistakes—when something goes wrong, asks "How do we fix it?"
Travel & Installation
Most of our work happens in our El Campo shop, and most field work is within Texas. However, some projects require travel for delivery and installation, including occasional overnight and out-of-state travel. You must be willing to go where the project takes us and help see the job through to completion.
Experience
Professional cabinetmaking, furniture making, millwork or woodworking experience is strongly preferred. Experience with custom cabinetry, solid hardwoods, shop drawings, cabinet hardware, woodworking machinery, sanding, finishing preparation and architectural millwork is a plus.
But experience alone won't get you the job.
Attitude, dependability, craftsmanship and willingness to learn matter just as much.
What Success Looks Like
You can be handed a drawing and trusted to build from it. Your measurements are right. Your joints fit. Your work is clean. You show up when you're supposed to. You think ahead and catch problems before they become expensive problems.
When the team needs an extra push to finish a project, you're there with them. And when one of your projects leaves our shop, you're proud of what you built.
Why Tin Roof?
We're not interested in becoming a factory producing thousands of identical cabinets. We want to build things people remember—a kitchen where a family gathers for decades, a dining table that gets passed down, or a one-of-a-kind piece that becomes part of someone's home.
That requires craftsmen.
If you're looking for easy work, repetitive work, or a place where "close enough" is acceptable, Tin Roof probably isn't for you.
If you enjoy starting with raw lumber and finishing the day knowing you helped create something exceptional, we'd like to meet you.
Show up. Work hard. Build it right. Take pride in what you leave behind.
