Trims Operator | Falk Panel USA
Founded in 2020, FALK Panel manufactures premium insulated metal panels for North America. Our Walker, Michigan plant is the most advanced panel production facility on the continent, and we are adding two more IMP lines there. The Walker campus is also home to FALK Sheet Metal, our new trim shop, and our sales offices in Alberta and Ontario serve our Canadian customers. Our panels streamline construction, reduce labor costs, and give architects a wide range of design options, backed by our commitment to innovative, high-quality, eco-friendly building solutions.
FALK is more than a group of individuals. We are a close, dedicated team that values commitment, reliability, decisiveness, and customer focus. Our shared mission is to build the buildings of the future, and we take real pride in what we accomplish together.
About the Role
We are hiring a Trims Operator to join FALK Sheet Metal, our trim shop in Walker, Michigan, reporting to the Trims and Accessories Manager. You will program, set up, and run the bender, press brakes, slitters, and shears to produce architectural trim, flashing, and sheet metal components, and inspect every piece to make sure our customers get the best quality trims possible.
Trims are the finishing details on every building our panels go into. If you like precise, hands-on work and take pride in getting it right, this role is for you.
What You'll Do
- Read trim orders, shop drawings, and work orders.
- Program, set up, and operate the bender, press brakes, slitters, shears, and other trim shop equipment, including changeovers and first-piece inspections.
- Stage 22 to 26 gauge steel coils and sheets, and move material with forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Check lengths, bend angles, profiles, gauge, color, and finish using tape measures, calipers, angle finders, and squares.
- Troubleshoot machine and tooling issues and help with preventative maintenance.
- Package, label, and stage finished trims so orders are complete and damage-free.
- Keep your work area clean and safe, wear required PPE, and help find ways to reduce scrap and improve the shop.
Who You Are
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Mechanically inclined, with experience operating manufacturing equipment.
- Able to read fabrication drawings and blueprints, and strong with math, measurements, and tape measures.
- Experienced with hand and power tools.
- Well-organized, detail-focused, and safety-first.
- A clear communicator who works well alone and on a team.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally with assistance, stand for long periods, and bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach throughout the shift.
- Comfortable in a shop with noise, dust, sharp metal edges, and temperatures that get warm in the summer.
- Experience with press brakes, slitters, or benders, programming metal forming equipment, bend allowances, or forklift certification is a plus.
