Plumbing & HVAC Service Manager

Al Terry Plumbing and Heating • Full-time • Hooksett, New Hampshire, United States • $85,000 - $115,000 / year • 2d ago

Al Terry Plumbing & Heating turns 50 this year. We’ve been installing and repairing plumbing and heating systems across New Hampshire since 1976, and we’re hiring a Service Manager to run our residential service department.

Our techs cover the Lakes Region, the Seacoast, west to the Amherst area, and along the Massachusetts border. You’d be the person they call when a diagnosis stalls, a schedule falls apart, or a customer is unhappy. You’d also be the person who makes sure those calls happen less often next month.

What you’ll do

Run the day for our service techs so their time goes to calls, not to waiting on answers
Visit job sites to check progress and make sure the work is safe, clean, and up to current code
Help techs troubleshoot plumbing and HVAC problems in the field, and train them as they grow
Review tech reports every day and follow up on the extra work they recommend
Handle customer complaints, then fix whatever caused them
Hire, coach, and review your team, and handle discipline when it’s needed
Keep the department fully staffed with skilled techs
Work with the other department leaders on sales and profit goals, and build the plans that hit them

What you bring

5+ years leading a service department
2+ years of hands-on plumbing or HVAC experience
A working grasp of the numbers behind a service department, like time on task and follow-up sales
Comfort in ServiceTitan, Excel, and Word
You can talk straight with techs, other managers, and homeowners
Valid driver’s license
Plumbing license or gas technician license is a plus

What you get

$85K to $115K salary, plus a bonus for hitting department goals
401(k) with company match
Medical, dental, and vision insurance
Disability and life insurance
Paid holidays, vacation, and sick time

The honest part

This job has pressure in it. When the first cold snap hits and the no-heat calls stack up before 8 a.m., you’re the one deciding who goes where. If you stay steady in that moment and you’re good with people, you’ll do well here.

Apply right here on Indeed. If you’ve run a service board through a New Hampshire winter, we want to hear from you.
