Commercial & Industrial HVAC Project Manager | Mechanical Contracting

Battle Creek, Michigan | Full-Time | Competitive Pay & Benefits

You've managed the projects. You've solved the problems. You've kept crews moving and customers happy. Now it's time to bring that experience to a company that values what you bring to the table.

Shouldice Industrial Manufacturers and Contractors, Inc. is looking for an experienced HVAC Project Manager who is ready to take the lead on commercial and industrial projects and make a real impact.

We're not looking for someone who simply tracks schedules and sends emails. We're looking for a leader who understands HVAC construction, knows how to manage people and projects, and takes pride in delivering quality work while keeping projects on schedule and profitable.

If you're the kind of person who can walk a jobsite, talk through a mechanical drawing, solve a problem before it becomes a crisis, and tell us exactly where your projects stand financially, we want to talk to you!

WHY SHOULDICE?

At Shouldice, you're not just another project manager managing another job.

You'll be part of an established, multi-trade industrial contracting company with experienced professionals across HVAC, sheet metal, piping, millwright, electrical, and general trades.

That means you'll have the opportunity to work on challenging projects with the support, resources, and expertise of an entire team behind you.

Here's what you can expect:

Competitive Compensation: Pay commensurate with your experience and qualifications.
Competitive Benefits Package: A comprehensive benefits package offered by an established contractor.
Project Ownership: Take responsibility for your projects from planning through completion.
Variety & Challenge: Work on commercial and industrial projects that keep things interesting.
Experienced Team Support: Collaborate with skilled field professionals and management across multiple trades.
Opportunity to Make an Impact: Your knowledge, leadership, and decisions matter here.
Established Company: Join a contractor with a broad range of capabilities and a diverse project portfolio.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

As our HVAC Project Manager, you'll be the driving force behind the successful execution of commercial and industrial HVAC projects.

Lead the Projects

Manage HVAC construction projects from preconstruction and kickoff through completion and closeout.
Oversee project schedules, budgets, manpower planning, material procurement, and coordination.
Work directly with customers, general contractors, engineers, subcontractors, and field supervisors.
Keep multiple projects moving efficiently without sacrificing safety, quality, or profitability.

Own the Financials

Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost projections.
Monitor labor productivity, material costs, committed costs, billing, and job profitability.
Identify potential cost overruns early and develop solutions.
Manage change orders and ensure additional work is properly documented and compensated.
Participate in work-in-progress reviews and project financial reporting.

Support the Field

Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
Work closely with foremen and field supervision to keep projects moving.
Make sure crews have the information and resources they need to succeed.
Visit jobsites regularly and address challenges before they affect project performance.

Keep Everything on Track

Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and contracts.
Oversee submittals, RFIs, purchase orders, and project documentation.
Coordinate equipment deliveries, startup, commissioning, and final closeout.
Maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and project partners.
Support estimating and preconstruction activities as needed.

WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT?

We're looking for someone with real-world commercial or industrial HVAC construction experience, strong project management abilities, and the confidence to lead projects from start to finish.

Our Ideal Candidate Has:

Experience managing commercial or industrial HVAC construction projects.
A solid understanding of HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, installation practices, and construction sequencing.
Strong knowledge of project budgeting, estimating, scheduling, procurement, and cost control.
The ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
Experience coordinating field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and customer expectations.
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
An understanding of job profitability and the financial responsibilities that come with managing construction projects.
The ability to independently manage multiple projects while working with a larger team.
A valid driver's license and the ability to visit project sites as needed.
Be able to pass a background check.

Additional Experience We'd Love to See:

Rooftop units, air-handling units, chillers, boilers, and cooling towers.
Hydronic heating and cooling systems.
Commercial ductwork and ventilation systems.
Mechanical and process piping.
Pumps, building controls, and related mechanical systems.
Manufacturing, industrial, institutional, municipal, or other complex commercial facilities.
Union construction environments.
Construction estimating, project management, and job-cost software.

THE KIND OF PERSON WHO THRIVES HERE

You're someone who takes ownership.

You don't wait until a project is over budget to start asking questions. You don't avoid difficult conversations. You understand that supporting your field crews is just as important as managing paperwork and numbers.

You communicate. You plan. You anticipate challenges. You solve problems.

Most importantly, you take pride in your work and in the success of the team around you.

If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.

READY TO MAKE YOUR NEXT MOVE?

Your experience matters. Your leadership matters. And at Shouldice, you'll have the opportunity to put both to work.
