Job Summary

The employee in this class plans, coordinates, performs and directs others in performing skilled installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of facility electrical wiring, apparatus, and equipment. To provide lead work and aid Licensed and Registered Unlicensed employees in the timely completion of skilled electrical work of projects within the Institution. The Incumbent of this position will be designated as the Electrician Master of Record for MCF-FRB.

This position has daily interactions with Incarcerated individuals.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Must be registered with the Minnesota State Board of Electricity as a Class A Master Electrician and present their license to DLI as the responsible person for MCF-Faribault.

Applicants meeting the above qualification will be further assessed on the following:

Leadership skill sufficient to provide leadwork direction that includes prioritizing, assessing and assigning job duties, directing, guiding and reporting on work activities of other staff.
Ability to perform all electrical work in accordance with the national and state electrical codes, and in compliance with safety standards.
Ability to follow directions and work both independently and in a collaborative work environment

Preferred Qualifications

Possess good human relations skills in working among medium security Incarcerated persons and other personnel.
Ability to work in all areas: enclosed, confined, or tunnel-like

Physical Requirements

The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required for this position. These components may consist of a tuberculosis (TB) screening and respirator clearance. Additional Requirements

The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.

Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.

New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
