SOS Plumbing & Heating is a growing plumbing and heating contractor serving residential and light commercial customers throughout Rhode Island. We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Plumber or Apprentice Pipefitter who is eager to learn the trade, work hard, and build a long-term career with our team.

Minimum one year experience would be great, but not required, this is an excellent opportunity to receive hands-on training alongside experienced licensed professionals while working on a wide variety of plumbing and heating systems.

Our work includes:

Residential service and repair
Light commercial plumbing and heating
Boilers and hydronic heating systems
Water heaters and tankless systems
Water filtration and well systems
Drainage, gas piping, and remodeling projects

Position Overview

As an Apprentice, you will assist licensed plumbers and pipefitters with installations, repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting while developing the skills necessary to become a licensed professional. We are looking for someone who is dependable, mechanically inclined, professional, and eager to learn every day.

Responsibilities

Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing and heating systems
Work alongside licensed plumbers and pipefitters on residential and light commercial projects
Learn to read blueprints, specifications, and installation instructions
Gain hands-on experience cutting, threading, soldering, pressing, and assembling piping systems
Assist with installing fixtures, boilers, water heaters, water treatment equipment, gas piping, and drainage systems
Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles
Keep job sites clean, organized, and safe
Provide professional customer service while representing SOS Plumbing & Heating

Qualifications

Strong desire to learn the plumbing and heating trade
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to work with hand and power tools
Previous plumbing, HVAC, construction, or mechanical experience is helpful, but not required
Ability to lift 75 pounds and work in physically demanding environments
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude
Excellent communication skills and willingness to follow instructions
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Employment Requirements

All applicants must successfully pass:

Criminal background check
Rhode Island RMV driving record check
Drug screening (pre-employment and random, if required)

Applicants with speeding violations, major moving violations, license suspensions, or at-fault accidents within the past three years will not be considered.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $25.00 per hour
