HVAC Service Technician Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable HVAC Service Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems for residential and/or commercial customers. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service while ensuring all work meets industry standards and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose, repair, and maintain residential and commercial HVAC systems.
Perform routine preventative maintenance and system inspections.
Install HVAC equipment, components, thermostats, and related accessories.
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant-related issues.
Test system performance and verify proper operation after repairs.
Explain repair options and maintenance recommendations to customers.
Complete work orders, service reports, and required documentation accurately.
Follow all safety procedures, local building codes, and company policies.
Maintain service vehicle, tools, and inventory.
Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency service calls as needed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
HVAC certification or technical training preferred.
EPA Section 608 Certification required.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Minimum of 2 years of HVAC service experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, electrical components, and refrigeration cycles.
Ability to read wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Excellent troubleshooting and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Ability to work in confined spaces, attics, crawl spaces, and on rooftops.
Capable of standing, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working in various weather conditions.
Must be able to safely use hand and power tools.

Preferred Skills

Experience with residential and commercial HVAC systems.
Knowledge of heat pumps, furnaces, boilers, mini-split systems, and refrigeration equipment.
Familiarity with smart thermostats and building automation systems.
Strong communication and time-management skills.
