Job Overview
We are seeking a junior level skilled and detail-oriented Metal Machining CNC Programmer with experience programming CNC lathes and other CNC metal machining centers to join our dynamic manufacturing team.
The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating programs for CNC machines, updating and maintaining all CAM programs, and for answering questions from operators. The CNC Programmer will also design and build necessary fixtures and tooling to complete machining process, complete first part inspection, communicate with co-workers regarding technical details and production runs, train operators/co-workers regarding process, and maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment.
Duties
- Develop, write and update CNC programs for CNC lathes, milling machines, and other metal machining centers to ensure efficient and accurate production runs.
- Interpret complex technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints using GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to produce precise parts.
- Utilize CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as SolidWorks to create or modify part models and tooling designs.
- Clerical engineering maintenance including: tool sheet updates, routing updates, time studies, etc.
- Set up and calibrate CNC machines using precision measuring instruments such as bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Select appropriate tooling and design fixtures based on part geometry and material properties; adjust tool paths accordingly.
- Conduct routine inspections of machined parts using precision instruments like bore gauges and micrometers to verify conformance to specifications.
- Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling wear or programming errors and make necessary adjustments for continuous improvement.
- Maintain detailed documentation of programs, setups, tooling configurations, and process parameters for quality control and reproducibility.
Experience
- Proven experience in CNC programming for both milling machines and lathes within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong proficiency with Fanuc controls and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) programming software.
- Familiarity with CAD software like SolidWorks or CATIA for designing or modifying parts and tooling components.
- MasterCAM software experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
- Knowledge of MS office.
Pay: $29.00 - $34.00 per hour
