OVERVIEW
We are seeking a skilled Refrigeration Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be able to ultilize mechanical skills to perform set-up, installation, troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment. May have to perform maintenance on plant or building requiring the use of a wide variety of hand and portable power tools. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration systems in various settings, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on refrigeration related equipment, including but not limited to compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, vessels, valves, and auto purgers.
· Operates and maintains steam generator and related equipment.
· Operates and maintains air compressors and related equipment.
· Drains oil as needed from the ammonia refrigeration system.
· Responds to high level, and other emergency alarms with regards to Ammonia System.
· Reads understand and follow all PSM rules and regulations defined in the Scenic Fruit process safety management manuals.
· Maintains plant wastewater system including calibration of PH probes and ensuring system operations.
· Attends and participates in all training for OSHA compliance, Hazmat, MSDS requirements and regulations and Ammonia, PPE and Confined Space training.
· Works to maintain refrigeration equipment at IIAR mechanical integrity standards, through daily, weekly, monthly, and annual preventative maintenance. This includes filling out required logs for oil drain, compressor checks, condenser checks, as well as other routine equipment inspections.
EDUCATION:
· High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
· 3 years’ experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems required.
· Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings.
· Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations relative to plant operation and maintenance, specifically regarding operating ammonia refrigeration systems.
· High mental and visual effort required. Particular emphasis on safety for yourself and others.
· Experience in a Food Processing industry preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The position typically spends about 95% of the time in a production environment and 5% in an office environment. This employee will be required to enter frozen spaces on a daily basis and may be required to perform repairs in frozen or refrigerated rooms. Individual will spend considerable time performing work/repairs in the engine room which can be very noisy, and hot to the point of being disagreeable. Employee may be required to work outside for extended periods during summer and/or winter months when environmental factors may not be favorable. There is potential for exposure to chemicals, such as ammonia and sodium hydroxide.
While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, twist, and reach above shoulders. This position requires good manual dexterity and will be frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel and see objects in a productive and office environment. Must be able to use arms repeatedly for pushing, pulling, grasping, lifting, and carrying. Must be able to lift 50 lbs to 100 lbs or more using team lifting practices. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. individually.
The position requires concentrated mental and/or visual attention; performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications; and/or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods.
Employee must be able to work 8-12 hours per day, 5-7 days a week.
