The Network & Low Voltage Installation Technician is responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining network infrastructure and low-voltage systems in commercial environments. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with onsite and remote teams to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Network & Infrastructure Installation
* Install, configure, upgrade, and replace network hardware, including switches and routers
* Install and assemble network racks and cabinets; perform rack mounting of equipment and related hardware
* Execute structured cabling (Cat6 and fiber), including running, terminating, labeling, and testing
* Maintain clean and organized cable management in network closets and IDF/MDF environments
* Install and position wireless access points, including proper labeling and documentation
Low Voltage Systems
* Install, troubleshoot, and service CCTV and access control systems
* Install and configure IP-based security cameras
* Mount and install field devices and hardware according to specifications
* Perform basic AV installations such as TV mounting and video wall setups
Configuration & Technical Work
* Configure network equipment including routers and wireless access points
* Apply foundational networking knowledge (IP addressing, subnets, OSI model)
* Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation
* Follow project plans, submittals, and manufacturer guidelines
Operations & Project Support
* Coordinate with project managers and team members during installations
* Provide real-time updates on project progress and issues
* Troubleshoot installation and connectivity issues as they arise
* Verify equipment and materials prior to installation
* Document work performed with before-and-after photos
Customer Service & Professionalism
* Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams to ensure satisfaction
* Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company on job sites
* Manage and maintain work vehicle inventory when applicable
Skills & Qualifications
* Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial low voltage or network infrastructure installation
* Experience with:
* Rack assembly and installation
* CCTV and access control systems
* IP camera systems and wireless access point installation
* Network hardware installation and configuration
* Fiber optic cabling installation and termination
* Familiarity with structured cabling standards and rack & stack procedures
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
* Ability to follow detailed technical instructions and project plans
Work Environment & Requirements
* Full-time schedule (typically 7 AM – 5 PM), with occasional early morning, evening, or after-hours work based on project needs
* Travel required to job sites; may include regional or out-of-area assignments depending on project needs
* Work performed in commercial buildings and construction sites
* Ability to:
* Work on ladders up to 20 feet
* Work in confined spaces and at heights (including rooftops if required)
* Lift up to 50 lbs and move up to 75 lbs
* Strong adherence to construction and safety standards
Additional Requirements
* Valid Texas Driver’s License with clean driving record
* Proficiency in English
