JOURNEYMAN PLUMBER
Full-Time | [Mass & RI] | $[28]–$[50]/hr.
About the Role
We are hiring an experienced Commercial Journeyman Plumber to join our field team on active commercial construction, renovation, and tenant improvement projects. This is a skilled trade position for someone who knows the work inside and out — from underground rough-in through above-ceiling rough, trim-out, and final inspection.
You will work alongside an experienced crew under the direction of a Foreman, taking ownership of your assigned scope and contributing to a job site culture built on quality, safety, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Rough-In & Underground
- Lay out and install underground sanitary waste, storm, and domestic water systems per plans and code
- Set sleeves, core drill, and coordinate penetrations with other trades during rough-in phases
- Install cast iron, PVC, CPVC, copper, and press-fit piping systems with precision and care
- Perform and document pressure tests, air tests, and inspections at all required phases
- Read and work from full commercial drawing sets including plumbing, civil, and architectural plans
Above-Ground Rough & Overhead Work
- Install above-ceiling and in-wall sanitary, vent, domestic hot and cold water, and gas piping
- Hang and support pipe per code using appropriate hangers, straps, and seismic bracing where required
- Coordinate routing conflicts with mechanical, electrical, and structural trades in the field and on drawings
- Work from scissor lifts, pipe stands, and ladders safely and efficiently
- Mark up drawings to reflect as-built conditions for foreman and project records
Trim-Out & Fixture Setting
- Set and connect all plumbing fixtures including commercial toilets, urinals, lavatories, mop sinks, floor drains, and specialty equipment
- Install water heaters, mixing valves, PRVs, backflow preventers, and associated trim
- Make final connections to kitchen equipment, janitor fixtures, and specialty process piping as required
- Perform final system flush, balance, and functional testing prior to inspection
- Complete punch list items thoroughly and in a timely manner to support project closeout
Workmanship & Safety
- Perform all work to local plumbing code, IPC/UPC standards, and project specifications
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and take pride in the quality of every installation
- Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies — no shortcuts
- Assist and mentor apprentices working alongside you on the job site
- Communicate openly with your foreman on progress, material needs, and any field conflicts
