Title: Production Manager – Residential Metal Roofing

The Role
We’re hiring a Production Manager to own everything after a customer signs a contract related to installation quality and delivery.
You will work with subcontract crews (we supply all materials), vendors, and homeowners to make sure projects are:
- Planned well
- Installed correctly
- Completed on time and on budget
- Closed out with as few callbacks as possible
You report directly to ownership and will be on the ground floor helping us build this system from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Scheduling
- Build and maintain a 1–3 week production calendar
- Assign and size subcontract crews to each job
- Create material takeoffs and order all metal, trim, underlayment, fasteners, dumpsters, and portables
- Coordinate permits and any HOA approvals
Coordination & Communication
- Serve as primary point of contact for customers, crews, and suppliers once a job is sold
- Call every customer before install: confirm scope, access, parking, pets, expectations, and timing
- Daily dispatch to crews with job packets, photos, and notes
- Recruit, onboard, and retain high-quality metal roofing subs
- Coordinate with sales if customers want scope or color changes after signing
Standards, Numbers & Documentation
- Perform pre-start jobsite readiness checks
- Verify field measurements before custom panels are ordered
- Spot check installation quality (trim, flashing, fasteners, details, cleanliness, safety)
- Collect before/during/after photos and closeout docs; handle warranty registrations
- Use tools like Google Sheets, GHL, and AI to track and improve production
- Track and report key metrics:
- Contract-to-install start days
- On-time start & completion %
- Budget vs actual gross margin per job
- Callback % and reasons
Problem Solving & Callbacks
- Handle material shortages, wrong orders, crew issues, and weather reschedules fast
- Write and price change orders when scope or selections change after signing
- Own installation-related callbacks and unhappy customers until resolved
- Remove underperforming crews and bring on new ones when needed
How Success Is Measured
- Average contract → install start: 7–14 days once volume is steady
- On-time start & completion: 90%+
- Job budget: within ±5% of target margin on standard jobs
- Callbacks (first 30 days): under 5%
What You Need
- Proven experience running roofing or exterior production, with meaningful metal roofing experience
- History of managing multiple jobs and crews per week using subcontractors
- Strong understanding of residential metal roof replacements (standing seam and/or exposed fastener systems, typically replacing shingle roofs)
- Comfortable being on job sites regularly (roofs, attics, ladders, walk-throughs)
- Solid with basic tech (email, Google Sheets, CRM / project tools) and open to using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to work faster and smarter
- Live within commuting distance of Morrisville, NC (or willing to commute daily)
- Reliable vehicle for jobsite visits
- Willing to work some evenings and weekends when needed to hit deadlines and deliver on promises (this is not a 9–5 role)
