Capital City Mechanical is seeking an experienced, highly skilled HVAC Service Technician to join our growing team. Position Summary
The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, maintaining, and installing residential and commercial HVAC systems. This role requires advanced troubleshooting skills, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers, team members, and management.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working independently while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and customer satisfaction.
Essential ResponsibilitiesResidential HVAC Services
- Diagnose and repair residential heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
- Service furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, mini-splits, boilers, and related equipment.
- Perform seasonal maintenance and preventative service agreements.
- Conduct system inspections and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
- Educate homeowners on equipment operation and maintenance recommendations.
Commercial HVAC Services
- Diagnose and repair rooftop units (RTUs), package units, split systems, VAV systems, and commercial HVAC equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on commercial facilities and multi-site accounts.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and control system issues.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, specifications, and technical manuals.
- Coordinate repairs with facility managers, property managers, and business owners.
General Duties
- Accurately document service calls, repairs, and recommendations.
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment.
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Adhere to OSHA safety standards and company policies.
- Participate in on-call rotation as required.
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive customer-focused attitude.
Minimum QualificationsRequired Experience
- Minimum 10 years of HVAC service experience in both residential and commercial environments.
- Proven experience diagnosing and repairing a wide variety of HVAC systems.
- Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, airflow, electrical diagnostics, and mechanical systems.
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs and emergency service calls.
Required Certifications
- EPA Universal Certification (Required)
- Valid Ohio Driver's License with clean driving record
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
Preferred Certifications
- NATE Certification
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
- Manufacturer-specific certifications
- Boiler and hydronic system experience

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

- Proficiency with mobile technology, service software, and digital work orders
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds and work in varying weather conditions
- Comfortable working on ladders, rooftops, crawl spaces, and mechanical rooms
