Gas Pipe Fitter / Generator Installation Technician

Position Summary

Osburn Generator is seeking a dependable Gas Pipe Fitter / Generator Installation Technician to support residential standby generator installations in the Milford, MI area. This role focuses on cutting, threading, and installing black iron gas piping used to connect natural gas or propane lines to residential generator systems.

This is a lighter-side pipefitting role, best suited for someone with hands-on experience using threading machines, working with black iron pipe, and following basic fuel gas piping layouts. Someone that understands the pipe fitting aspect and is interested in learning the generator side.

Responsibilities

Cut, thread, measure, and install black iron gas pipe
Assist with residential standby generator hookups
Run gas piping from meter/regulator area to generator location
Use pipe threading machines, hand tools, and basic layout tools
Support pressure testing and leak-check preparation
Work safely around gas piping, utilities, and residential job sites
Keep work areas clean and organized
Assist lead installers as needed

Requirements

Experience cutting and threading black iron pipe
Basic knowledge of residential gas piping
Comfortable working outdoors and on residential properties
Able to lift pipe, tools, and equipment as needed
Reliable transportation and strong attendance
Willing to work as part of a small installation crew

Preferred Experience

Generator installation experience
Plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, or pipefitting background
Familiarity with natural gas and propane systems
Ability to read simple layouts or installation notes
