District HVAC Technician- 5+ years commercial HVAC experience required
Travel: Frequent travel between multiple locations throughout the Greater Houston area
We are seeking a highly skilled and resourceful District HVAC Technician to support multiple locations throughout the Houston market. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and optimizing commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate is an expert troubleshooter who can identify practical solutions, work independently, prioritize multiple requests, and communicate effectively with operations teams and facility leaders.
This position requires someone who can work with both newer and aging equipment, think creatively when replacement is not immediately feasible, and provide clear communication throughout the repair process. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a customer-service mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment across multiple locations.
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM) activities including filter changes, belt replacements, coil cleaning, lubrication, and system performance monitoring.
- Conduct component-level diagnostics on electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and equipment specifications.
- Perform compressor replacements, leak detection, brazing, soldering, and refrigerant-related repairs.
- Troubleshoot and maintain:
- Commercial HVAC and Light Commercial Systems
- Rooftop Units (RTUs)
- Split Systems
- Chillers
- Package Units
- VAV Boxes (Variable Air Volume)
- Walk-In Coolers & Freezers
- Reach-In Refrigeration Equipment
- Ice Machines
- Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, maintenance activities, recommendations, and follow-up actions.
- Coordinate with managers, vendors, and service providers to ensure repairs are completed efficiently.
- Communicate technical issues and recommended solutions in a clear and understandable manner to non-technical stakeholders.
- Prioritize urgent repairs while managing multiple service requests simultaneously.
- Identify cost-effective repair solutions and extend equipment life whenever possible.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, EPA regulations, and company maintenance procedures.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial HVAC service and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience supporting multiple facilities or service locations.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC controls, refrigeration systems, electrical diagnostics, and mechanical systems.
- Experience servicing older HVAC equipment and identifying creative repair solutions.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with leak detection, brazing, soldering, and compressor replacement.
- EPA Certification (Universal preferred).
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to travel regularly throughout the Houston market.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in hospitality, entertainment, retail, restaurant, or multi-unit facility environments.
- Experience with facility maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Trade school certification or equivalent HVAC technical training.
- Additional refrigeration certifications.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
