The Plumber is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting plumbing systems throughout Cleveland Clinic facilities to support a safe, functional, and compliant healthcare environment. Daily responsibilities include inspecting equipment, diagnosing and resolving plumbing issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring all work meets applicable building codes, regulatory requirements, and safety standards. Working closely with skilled trades professionals, supervisors, and project managers, this caregiver supports construction, renovation, and maintenance projects while helping ensure the reliability of critical infrastructure systems such as water distribution, drainage, and fire protection. Although not directly involved in patient care, this role plays an essential part in maintaining the safety, hygiene, and operational readiness of healthcare facilities, contributing to a positive environment for patients, visitors, and caregivers.
A caregiver in this position will work 3rd shift from 10:30pm to 7:00am starting Sunday night through Thursday night. Coverage is required for weekends and holidays with weekend coverage being once per month.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Inspects, repairs and performs maintenance on all types of plumbing systems to include heating, steam, gas lines and medical gas systems.
- Installs and maintains pipe assemblies, plumbing fixtures and fittings.
- Tests fire system valves, tamper switches, fire pumps and dry deluge fire systems.
- Repairs and maintains steam stations, pressure relief valves, heating/condensate return stations, back flow preventers and sewer/storm drains.
- Work may occasionally be assigned across multiple Cleveland Clinic locations.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Four years of experience as a plumber, including experience with pressurized gas systems, vacuum systems, steam, hot water and fire protection system
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Plumbing License through the Ohio Department of Commerce
- Medical Gas Certification though National Inspection Testing and Certification Corporation (NITC)
- Certified Backflow Tester Certification though the Ohio Department of Commerce

Personal Protective Equipment:

Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $30.41
Maximum hourly: $46.38
