Job Position: Low Voltage Helper
Location: Austin, TX 78758
Pay Rate: $18–$19 hr
TradSTAR is hiring a Low Voltage Helper for commercial structured cabling and security projects throughout the Austin area. This is an entry-level support role working alongside experienced technicians in structured cabling, fire alarm, access control, and other low-voltage systems.
Responsibilities
- Assist technicians with installation of low-voltage systems including structured cabling, fire alarm, security, and access control.
- Pull, route, and support Cat5e/Cat6 and other low-voltage cabling.
- Install cable pathways such as J-hooks, conduit, ladder rack, and supports.
- Assist with mounting devices, racks, panels, and equipment.
- Help with testing, troubleshooting, and basic system setup.
- Maintain clean and organized job sites.
- Follow safety guidelines and assist with code-compliant installations.
- Support technicians with tools, materials, and general labor tasks.
Qualifications
- Prior construction or low-voltage experience preferred but not required.
- Willingness to learn multiple low-voltage systems and trade skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment.
- Basic hand tools and job site safety awareness is a plus.
- Ability to lift materials and work from ladders or lifts when needed.
- Reliable transportation required.
