About the Role
The Licensed HVAC Field Service Manager serves as Astra's licensed contractor of record and technical leader. This position combines hands-on HVAC work with technician leadership, training, quality control, and customer support. During Astra's early growth phase, the majority of your time will be in the field, performing diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and installations, while helping develop the systems and standards that support a growing operation. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technician or field leader who wants more responsibility and direct involvement in building a company without leaving the tools behind.
Responsibilities
- Serve as Astra's licensed HVAC contractor of record (Class A or B)
- Perform residential HVAC diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and installations
- Provide technical leadership and support to HVAC technicians
- Train, mentor, and develop team members
- Conduct quality control reviews and maintain high workmanship standards
- Support estimates, replacement recommendations, and major repair decisions
- Help establish service standards, procedures, and best practices
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards
- Assist with recruiting and onboarding technicians as the company grows
- Participate in an on-call rotation and assist with after-hours emergency service as needed
Qualifications
- Active Texas Class A or Class B Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Contractor License (TDLR)
- Willingness to serve as Astra's designated contractor of record
- Minimum 5 years of residential HVAC experience
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
- Experience leading, training, or mentoring technicians (preferred)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Desire to help build and grow a successful HVAC company
Compensation & Benefits
- $45–$55 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
- Quarterly performance bonus tied to clear, measurable targets
