Job Summary
The Maintenance Worker will support the College Summer Maintenance Project by performing a variety of repair, maintenance, and renovation tasks across campus facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in general maintenance, painting, carpentry, plumbing, and basic electrical work.
Duties & Responsibilities
Drywall & Painting
- Sheetrock repair and wall preparation, including patching holes and skimming walls.
- Interior painting including touch-ups, full wall painting, ceilings, doors, trim, stairwells, and handrails.
- Perform all necessary surface preparation before painting.
Caulking
- Apply and replace caulking around sinks, tubs, showers, toilets, and windows.
Carpentry & Repairs
- Door replacement, hardware installation, and alignment adjustments.
- Ceiling tile and ceiling grid repair/replacement.
- Cabinet repair/replacement and hardware repairs (slides, hinges, etc.).
- Furniture repairs.
- Cove base installation.
- Laminate countertop repairs.
- VCT and laminate flooring repair/replacement.
- Mirror replacement.
Electrical (Basic Maintenance)
- Light bulb and ballast replacement.
- Switch plate and outlet cover replacement.
- Light fixture and ceiling fan replacement.
- Installation of light covers.
- Replacement of single-pole outlets.
- Bathroom exhaust fan replacement.
HVAC-Related Tasks
- Replacement of HVAC supply and return grilles.
Bathroom Fixture Maintenance
- Replacement of towel bars, shower rods, toilet paper holders, and soap dishes.
Plumbing
- Faucet replacement.
- Lavatory and lavatory handle replacement.
- Shower head, diverter, and drain replacement.
- Garbage disposal and dishwasher replacement.
- Sink and toilet supply line replacement.
- Flapper, fill valve, and wax ring replacement.
Appliance Installation
- Install and replace microwaves, ranges, and refrigerators.
- Reverse doors and switch power supply cords as required.
Housekeeping & Site Protection
- Maintain a clean work area and perform interim cleaning after completing work.
- Protect room furnishings with sealed plastic wrap.
- Return any moved furniture to its original location.
- Ensure completed spaces are free of dirt, debris, and floor scuffs, especially in previously deep-cleaned rooms.
Exclusions
The following tasks are not included in this scope of work:
- Large-scale electrical system maintenance.
- Large-scale HVAC system maintenance.
- Environmental remediation services.
Requirements
- Experience in general maintenance, carpentry, painting, plumbing, or electrical repairs preferred.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment as required.
- Reliable attendance and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Pay: $23.00 per hour
