About the Role
INNOVA is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior HVAC Service Technician
to support field service operations, complex technical troubleshooting, and
warehouse-based repair and refurbishment work.
This is a full-time position that includes travel to client sites as needed. When not
traveling, the Senior HVAC Service Technician will perform advanced diagnostic, repair,
refurbishment, testing, and preparation work on HVAC units within INNOVA’s warehouse
facilities.
This role requires a high level of technical expertise, independent judgment, strong
problem-solving abilities, leadership on service assignments, and the ability to guide
other technicians when needed. The Senior HVAC Service Technician is expected to
ensure that all service work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with
company procedures, documentation standards, regulatory requirements, and industry
best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Field Service Responsibilities
● Travel to assigned client sites to perform HVAC inspections, diagnostics, service,
maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
● Lead or support complex field service assignments, including pre-installation
inspections, post-installation support, system start-ups, and technical issue resolution.
● Diagnose system malfunctions, identify root causes, and determine appropriate corrective actions.
● Perform installations, component replacements, system adjustments, and performance testing as assigned.
● Conduct inspections and supervise or support unit start-ups to ensure proper operation and compliance with requirements.
● Serve as a senior technical resource during field visits, including supporting less experienced technicians when required.
● Participate in larger or multi-technician projects, including jobs involving equipment movement, staging, placement, and coordination.
● Ensure all field work is performed in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local codes, safety standards, company procedures, and customer site
requirements.
● Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, dispatch, and internal
teams regarding service status, technical findings, required parts, and next steps.
Warehouse-Based Responsibilities
● Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, refurbishment, and testing of HVAC units
and components in the warehouse.
● Identify technical defects, determine repair requirements, and verify that
completed repairs meet company quality standards.
● Test and confirm operational readiness of repaired, refurbished, or prepared
equipment before field deployment.
● Support equipment staging, preparation, packaging, and technical readiness for
upcoming projects or service calls.
● Assist with organizing and maintaining tools, parts, equipment, and
service-related inventory.
● Provide technical input on recurring issues, repair trends, equipment condition,
and opportunities for process improvement.
● Support junior technicians by providing guidance, technical direction, and hands-on training when needed.
Administrative, Compliance & Systems Management
● Accurately document all work performed, including labor hours, materials, parts
used, service findings, and corrective actions.
● Complete post-service reports, job notes, inspection records, and required documentation in company systems and CRMs.
● Upload photos, service details, diagnostic findings, and technical documentation as required.
● Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, timely, and aligned with internal
compliance, audit, and quality standards.
● Follow all company protocols related to safety, reporting, recordkeeping,
equipment handling, and customer communication.
● Escalate technical, safety, operational, or customer-related issues to
management in a timely and professional manner.
● Contribute to improving service procedures, documentation practices,
troubleshooting processes, and overall service quality.
Qualifications
● Minimum of 5–7 years of hands-on experience as an HVAC Service Technician,
with experience handling complex diagnostics, repairs, and field service work.
● HVAC Certification required.
● Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, diagnostics, controls, electrical
components, mechanical systems, and system performance testing.
● Proven ability to troubleshoot complex HVAC issues independently and
recommend effective corrective actions.
● Experience leading service calls, supporting junior technicians, or acting as a
senior technical resource preferred.
● Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
● Ability to safely lift, carry, move, and maneuver equipment consistent with job
requirements.
● Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including warehouse, field,
and customer-site environments.
● Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
● Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with supervisors,
dispatch, warehouse teams, and other technicians.
● Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, compliance, and
professional service standards.
