We're a brand-new Pittsburgh HVAC and commercial refrigeration company, and we're looking for one exceptional technician to be the technical backbone of it — not employee #47, but the person we build the whole crew around.
If you're a great tech who's capped out where you are — running the hardest calls, training the new guys, carrying the shop on your back, and watching the owner take home the reward — this is the conversation you've been wanting to have.
This is day one. That's not the risk, that's the opportunity. You'll have a direct line to the owner (no layers of dispatch and middle management), real say in how the work gets done, and — for the right person who proves it — a defined path to earn ownership equity in the company. We're not dangling a vague "maybe someday." We'll put the path in writing.
What you'll do
- Run residential and commercial HVAC service, repair, and installs
- Diagnose and fix commercial refrigeration — walk-ins, reach-ins, ice machines, restaurant equipment
- Be the quality bar: if it's not done right, it doesn't leave
- Help us hire and train the techs who come after you
- Be the face customers trust — because in this trade, they buy the person
- What you bring
- 5+ years of hands-on HVAC/R service experience
What we offer
- Top-of-market base pay for the right person, based on your experience and license — we pay for the real thing, and we'll talk real numbers on the first call
- Performance profit-sharing from day one — when the company wins, you win
- A written, earned path to ownership equity for the person who proves they're a builder
- Company service vehicle, fuel, and tools/tool allowance
- [Paid time off + holidays — confirm]
- Autonomy and respect. No corporate script, no being micromanaged by someone who's never held a gauge.
- A real voice in how this company gets built from the ground up
This is not for everyone
If you want to clock in, clock out, and never think about the business — that's a fine way to work, but it's not this job. This is for the tech who's always thought "I could run this better than the guy I work for" and wants the shot to prove it.
How to Apply
Don't just hit "apply." Send a short note answering these three questions — it's how we'll know you actually read this:
- Do you hold the City of Pittsburgh Master Mechanical license? If not, how close are you (years of documented experience)?
- How many years of commercial refrigeration / restaurant-equipment work do you have?
- Why do you want to help build something new instead of taking a steady job at an established shop?
We read every one of these personally. The right person, we move fast on.
- Commercial refrigeration and/or restaurant-equipment experience is a major plus — it's a core part of what we do
- EPA 608 certification (Universal preferred) — required
- You hold, or can qualify for, the City of Pittsburgh Master Mechanical license — this is the big one. If you have it, you're exactly who we're looking for and it's your fast track to partnership. If you're close, let's talk about getting you there.
- Valid PA driver's license and a record clean enough to put you on our commercial insurance
- The ability to run a call start-to-finish on your own — and the character to do it right when no one's watching
Pay: $37.00 - $48.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
