Responsibilities:
- Install, test, and commission fire alarm systems, including proprietary control panels and sensors, ensuring adherence to NFPA standards and local fire codes.
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of fire alarm systems to guarantee optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.
- Read blueprints, schematics, electrical drawings, and construction plans to accurately execute system design and installation tasks.
- Troubleshoot complex fire alarm issues using engineering troubleshooting techniques and electrical experience; perform repairs using hand tools and power tools.
- Collaborate with construction teams during new builds or renovations to ensure fire alarm system integration aligns with building code requirements.
- Perform field service visits for system testing, calibration, repairs, and customer support; provide exceptional customer service throughout all interactions.
- Document all work performed accurately in service logs; communicate effectively with clients regarding system status or upgrades.
Licenses/ Certifications:
- ESA CFAT preferred
- NICET Level II preferred
- Must obtain and maintain certifications within 12 months of hire date
Requirements:
- Proven experience with fire alarm system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting within commercial or industrial settings.
- Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems including sensors, proprietary control panels, schematics, and low voltage electrical work.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, CAD drawings, and electrical blueprints; familiarity with building code compliance standards such as NFPA 72.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with construction inspection experience; familiarity with sprinkler systems is a plus.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and electrical testing devices for system diagnostics.
- Knowledge of fire codes and regulations related to fire alarm systems; understanding of NFPA standards is highly desirable.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
- Valid electrical license or certification preferred; relevant field service or construction experience is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining safety standards; physical ability to perform inspections at various heights or confined spaces.
