Job Overview
Sonny’s Plumbing is seeking a highly organized, technology-driven Estimator to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who is excellent with spreadsheets, comfortable reading construction documents, and able to manage multiple bids and deadlines with accuracy.
Plumbing estimating experience is strongly preferred, but we will consider a highly capable construction estimator with strong computer and analytical skills.
Responsibilities
- Review blueprints, specifications, addenda, and other construction documents
- Perform accurate material and labor takeoffs for commercial plumbing projects
- Prepare detailed estimates, bid sheets, proposals, and supporting documentation
- Track bid invitations, due dates, revisions, and project requirements
- Identify discrepancies, exclusions, scope gaps, and potential cost concerns
- Communicate with general contractors, vendors, suppliers, project managers, and internal team members
- Maintain organized electronic project files and estimating spreadsheets
- Review Procore bid documents and respond to project updates
- Assist with value engineering, pricing comparisons, and post-bid follow-up
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong working knowledge of Google Sheets
- Comfortable reviewing, organizing, editing, and combining PDF documents
- Ability to read and understand construction blueprints and specifications
- Excellent general computer skills and the ability to learn new programs quickly
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to organize large amounts of information
- Ability to work independently and meet firm bid deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Experience
- Commercial plumbing estimating experience
- Plumbing construction or field experience
- Experience with Procore
- Experience with estimating, takeoff, or blueprint software
- Knowledge of plumbing fixtures, piping systems, materials, labor requirements, and construction terminology
- Experience preparing bids for multifamily, commercial, hospitality, or similar construction projects
