Responsibilities
- Lead the installation of HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and building automation systems with precision and adherence to schematics and design specifications.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system issues using electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters, and perform repairs on mechanical systems including pumps, fans, ductwork, and refrigeration components.
- Interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and HVAC design documents to ensure accurate installation and maintenance procedures.
- Oversee the use of hand tools and specialized equipment to perform system repairs, upgrades, or replacements efficiently.
- Collaborate with property managers and clients to deliver excellent customer service by explaining system functions, maintenance needs, and safety procedures clearly.
- Ensure all work complies with EPA regulations for refrigerants (EPA certification required), electrical codes, plumbing standards, and safety protocols.
- Mentor junior technicians on best practices for HVAC system repair, installation techniques, equipment troubleshooting, and safety standards.
Requirements
- Proven construction experience with a strong background in mechanical systems repair and HVAC installation.
- Service technician experience in diagnosing HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) systems using schematics and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of HVAC design principles including building automation systems (BAS), electrical systems, plumbing connections, and refrigeration cycles.
- Hands-on experience with HVAC system repair—including air conditioning units, boilers, ammonia refrigeration systems—and equipment troubleshooting.
- Mechanical knowledge complemented by proficiency in electrical diagnostics using tools like ohmmeters or multimeters.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics accurately to guide installation or repair projects.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating drivers preferred for transporting equipment or materials.
- EPA certification for refrigerant handling; additional certifications in electrical diagnostics or boiler operation are advantageous.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
- Physical ability to work at heights or confined spaces as required; willingness to work flexible hours when necessary.
