As an Automation Sr. Field Service Technician, you will serve as the technical expert responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, optimizing, and supporting building automation and integrated building systems for Honeywell customers. You will deliver exceptional customer service while ensuring mission-critical building systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.
This role requires advanced technical expertise in Building Management Systems (BMS), HVAC controls, automation networks, and connected building technologies. The successful candidate will independently diagnose complex system issues, execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities, support modernization efforts, and provide consultative recommendations that improve system performance, energy efficiency, cybersecurity, and occupant comfort.
You will work directly with customers, operations teams, and service leadership to deliver world-class service while upholding Honeywell's commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - SUMMARY
- Technical Service Delivery: Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC controls; perform preventive maintenance; support system upgrades and modernization; document service activities accurately.
- Building Automation & Network Systems: Configure and troubleshoot BAS communication networks; support integration of building systems; analyze and resolve network performance and communication issues; collaborate with IT on security and connectivity.
- Customer Success & Relationship Management: Build trusted customer relationships; communicate technical findings; provide training; identify improvement opportunities; ensure timely and professional service delivery.
- Safety, Quality & Compliance: Conduct hazard assessments; follow safety policies; ensure compliance with codes and regulations; maintain accurate documentation for compliance.
- Operational Excellence: Maintain customer documentation; manage tools and assets responsibly; participate in emergency response; pursue continuous technical development.
Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
- 3+ years of experience diagnosing and servicing Building Automation Systems, HVAC controls, industrial controls, fire systems, security systems, or related technologies.
- 3+ years of experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC controls, troubleshooting controls, DDC systems, and field service operations.
- Experience working with Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and networked control systems.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- High School Diploma/GED

- Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, HVAC Technology, Electronics, Automation, Controls, Computer Networking, or related technical discipline
- 5+ years of Building Automation or HVAC Controls experience.
- Advanced knowledge of Honeywell building automation platforms.
- Experience with Niagara Framework, Tridium, EBI, Webs, Spyder, CIPer, or comparable BAS platforms.
- Understanding of HVAC mechanical systems including chillers, boilers, VAV systems, air handling units, and central plant operations.
- Experience commissioning and programming DDC controllers.
- Experience with data center, healthcare, pharmaceutical, industrial, or mission-critical facilities.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for Operational Technology (OT) and BAS environments.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and sequences of operation.
- Industry certifications such as Niagara Certification, HVAC Controls Certification, Network+ or equivalent, OSHA 10/30, Licensed HVAC or Electrical credentials.
BENEFITS OF WORKING FOR HONEYWELL
The annual base salary for this position is $67,000 - $83,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
