Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician to join our dynamic facilities maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a wide range of HVAC systems to ensure optimal indoor air quality and climate control across various commercial and industrial environments. Duties
- Install new HVAC systems, including ductwork, air conditioning units, boilers, and refrigeration equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and technical specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance on HVAC systems to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
- Diagnose and repair HVAC system issues using schematics, electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters, and mechanical troubleshooting techniques.
- Conduct electrical diagnostics and repairs on electrical systems associated with HVAC equipment.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical systems including refrigeration units, ammonia refrigeration systems, boilers, and air conditioning units.
- Collaborate with building automation system specialists to optimize system performance and energy efficiency.
- Maintain detailed service records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities for compliance and reporting purposes.
- Support HVAC system upgrades or modifications based on design specifications or client requests.
- Ensure all work adheres to EPA regulations regarding refrigerant handling and environmental safety standards.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding system status, maintenance needs, or repairs.
Skills
- Proven experience in construction projects involving HVAC system installation and mechanical systems repair.
- Extensive service technician experience with HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration) systems.
- Ability to interpret schematics, technical manuals, and building automation system diagrams.
- Knowledge of HVAC design principles for troubleshooting or upgrading existing systems.
- Familiarity with plumbing components related to HVAC applications.
- Proficiency in electrical diagnostics using tools such as ohmmeters and multimeters.
- Mechanical knowledge of HVAC equipment including compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, valves, and controls.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools necessary for installation and repair tasks.
- Experience working with electrical systems integral to HVAC operations.
- Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling is required.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
- Valid van driver’s license preferred for on-site travel between multiple locations.
- Knowledge of building automation systems for climate control optimization.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently through systematic diagnostic procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude for repairing complex mechanical systems such as boilers or air conditioning units.
