Position Title: Master Plumber

Salary: $59.15 Hourly / $123,032 Annually ( plus overtime)
A Master Plumber for the Quincy Housing Authority is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining all plumbing systems in housing facilities, ensuring compliance with codes, and supporting the organization’s mission to provide safe, affordable housing.
General Description
The Master Plumber will install, repair, and maintain pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing equipment used for water distribution and wastewater disposal in all housing authority facilities. The role also includes preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and ensuring all work meets Massachusetts plumbing codes.
Key Duties
- Review building plans/specifications to determine plumbing layouts
- Install supports, hangers, and fixtures; connect water and sewerage systems
- Repair and replace water lines, sewer lines, and domestic recirculation lines
- Install and maintain water heaters, faucets, and plumbing fixtures
- Heat Pump Systems - Design, install, service, and troubleshoot heat pump units (including air-source and ground-source) for heating, cooling, and domestic hot water
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections on domestic water and sanitary drainage systems
- Respond to emergencies such as clogged drains, frozen pipes, and gas leaks
- Order materials, estimate costs, and coordinate contractor work
- Maintain accurate documentation (as-built drawings, repair logs)
- Must be available for on call rotation
- Must be available for emergencies
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or vocational certification beyond high school
- Minimum 5–7 years in plumbing trade; at least 1 year in a supervisory role
- Valid Massachusetts Master Plumber’s License (Journeyman license required; Master preferred)
- Familiarity with Massachusetts Building Code and plumbing codes
- Valid, insurable driver’s license
- Strong skills in measurement, safety, and basic computer use (MS Office)
Work Environment
- Primarily on-site in housing facilities; may require overtime
- Work in varied conditions, including tight or confined spaces
- May assist other trades on piping issues

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) check, random drug screenings, and driving record review.
