Industrial HVAC Service Technician

Mid-State Mechanical of Vero Beach • Full-time • Vero Beach, Florida, United States • $27 - $33 / hour • 17h ago

About Us
Mid-State Mechanical is a commercial and industrial HVAC and mechanical contractor based in Vero Beach. We install, service, and maintain systems for manufacturers, schools, municipalities, and commercial buildings across the Treasure Coast and Central Florida. Our service team is small and experienced, so every tech matters and gets real support from senior techs.

The Role
We’re looking for a service technician with solid commercial experience who can work independently on most calls. You’ll join a four-person service team, handling repair calls and preventive maintenance agreements. You’ll work alongside our lead and senior techs on larger equipment and grow your skills toward a senior role.

What You’ll Do

Diagnose and repair commercial HVAC equipment, including RTUs, split systems, heat pumps, VRF, air handlers, and exhaust and make-up air units
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on customer PM agreements
Troubleshoot electrical, refrigeration, airflow, and basic controls problems
Assist senior techs on chillers, cooling towers, and larger central plant equipment
Recover, charge, and log refrigerant to EPA standards
Write clear service tickets and notes so the office can bill accurately
Communicate professionally with customers and facility managers on site
Recommend repairs and replacements when equipment is at end of life

What You Bring

5 or more years of commercial HVAC service experience (residential-only experience is not enough for this role)
EPA 608 Universal certification
Strong electrical troubleshooting skills: reading schematics and using a meter confidently
Your own hand tools and basic service gauges
Valid Florida driver’s license with a clean record
Ability to work on rooftops and lifts, and in hot conditions
Reliable, honest, and able to work independently

Nice to Have

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
Chiller or central plant exposure
Building automation or controls experience
Bilingual English and Spanish
