Job Summary
Earn daily per diems, consumable reimbursements, and mileage based on project location. This could involve anywhere from quick turn arounds in remote locations to year long location commitments. We are seeking a highly skilled Contract Welder with own rig experience to join our dynamic fabrication and construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing precise welding operations on metal materials, primarily in a construction environment involving rig components and related structures. Your expertise will ensure the integrity, safety, and durability of fabricated metal parts used in complex projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on challenging construction sites, utilizing advanced welding techniques and mechanical knowledge to deliver top-quality results. Responsibilities
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints to determine welding specifications and fabrication requirements
- Perform various welding techniques including FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) to join metal components accurately
- Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math skills to ensure precise measurements and proper fit-up of parts
- Operate power tools, plasma cutters, and other fabrication equipment safely and efficiently for cutting, shaping, and assembling sheet metal and structural components
- Fabricate, assemble, and install rig-related structures, ductwork, and metal materials according to technical drawings and safety standards
- Maintain a clean work environment by adhering to safety protocols, inspecting tools regularly, and following OSHA guidelines
- Collaborate with team members on-site to troubleshoot fabrication issues, interpret technical drawings accurately, and ensure quality control throughout the project lifecycle
Qualifications
- Proven construction site experience with a strong background in metal fabrication and welding operations
- Demonstrated proficiency in multiple welding techniques including FCAW, MIG, TIG, SMAW, with certifications preferred according to AWS (American Welding Society) standards
- Experience working with rig components or similar heavy-duty structural projects is highly desirable
- Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical diagrams accurately
- Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math for precise fabrication work
- Mechanical knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, ductwork installation, machining processes, and assembly procedures
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to welding operations and construction environments
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and measuring devices efficiently
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in interpreting technical drawings and ensuring quality standards are met
