Position Overview – Sales & Project Manager (Huff Steel Division)
The Sales & Project Manager position for Huff Steel is responsible for selling pre-engineered steel buildings and managing projects from contract through completion. This role requires a strong sales focus, independent business development, and the ability to coordinate and manage teams including subcontractors and internal employees to deliver successful projects.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
•Sell pre-engineered steel buildings to commercial, agricultural, and industrial customers
•Drive new business growth by proactively sourcing and qualifying leads which includes cold calls, emails, and social outreach.
•Actively engage with decision-makers within the agriculture, construction, and industrial markets to grow relationships and opportunities.
•Work closely with the marketing department to reach customers ready and willing to buy pre-engineered steel buildings.
- Prepare, present, and explain proposals and pricing in a clear, accurate manner that aligns with client needs and project scope.
- Position Huff Steel competitively against other steel building providers through strong pricing, service, and delivery.
- Maintain an accurate sales activity log to support client follow-ups, coordinate sales outreach, and provide visibility to leadership on pipeline activity.
- Build long-term client relationships that lead to repeat business, referrals, and testimonials
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the Steel Division with accountability and purpose.
- Set sales and growth goals in alignment with company objectives
- Make timely, sound decisions to support division performance
- Collaborate with Huff Concrete and other divisions of Huff Construction to optimize sales across all divisions.
- Train and educate team members on Pre-engineered Steel Buildings
- Continuously develop yourself as a salesperson, project manager, and leader through professional growth and initiative.
- Work collaboratively with Accounting, Human Resources, Marketing, Concrete, and leadership teams across the Aberdeen and Sioux Falls, and Norfolk NE locations to support company-wide objectives.
Project Management & Operations
- Manage projects from sale through completion
- Oversee project schedules, scope, and resources
- Monitor project progress and address issues as needed
- Provide clear, professional weekly communication with clients to keep them informed on project progress.
- Collaborate with Huff Construction’s Concrete Division as a strategic partner to serve steel clients and identify opportunities for Huff Concrete.
- Manage subcontractors effectively creating a long-lasting relationship
- Plan and manage material procurement and shipping to maintain schedules and proactively address potential delays.
Financial Performance
- Oversee estimating, budgeting, and pricing for steel projects
- Monitor project costs, margins, and overall financial performance
- Work closely with the Huff Construction CFO to align Huff Steel’s financial performance, goals, and strategy with overall company objectives.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Ensure safety standards and company policies are followed
- Maintain quality standards across all steel projects

- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and internal teams

Qualifications
- Sales or Management experience in steel buildings, construction, agriculture, or industrial projects.
- 3 years outside sales experience required.
- Demonstrated success in a commission- or incentive-based sales role, with the ability to consistently close work in a competitive market.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and make sound decisions without constant oversight.
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Financial understanding of estimating, budgets, and job costs
Pay: $50,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
