Project Manager – Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants
Salary: $100-130K
Location: Ames, IA (projects across Central Iowa)
We’re partnered with a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) commercial general contractor and design-builder seeking an experienced Project Manager or Sr. Project Manager to lead complex water and wastewater treatment plant projects from preconstruction through closeout.
This team is also open to hiring strong Assistant Project Managers who are ready to grow into a Project Manager role and take on increased responsibility within treatment plant construction.
This role is ideal for a technically strong builder who understands treatment plant construction and thrives coordinating civil, structural, mechanical, and process systems in a collaborative environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead water and wastewater treatment plant projects from preconstruction through completion
- Participate in early design involvement, constructability reviews, cost estimating, and GMP development
- Manage all phases of construction to ensure alignment with design intent, contract requirements, and owner goals
- Develop and maintain schedules, budgets, and project forecasts
- Lead meetings with owners, engineers, and subcontractors
- Oversee subcontractor procurement, negotiations, and performance
- Coordinate RFIs, submittals, change orders, and field issue resolution
- Conduct site visits to monitor safety, quality, and production
- Provide leadership to superintendents, project engineers, and field staff
- Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements
- Prepare project reporting, forecasting, and updates for leadership and clients
What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years managing commercial or industrial construction projects as a GC or CM
- 5+ years of experience on water/wastewater treatment facility projects
- Strong understanding of:
- Process piping
- Mechanical systems
- Concrete structures
- Equipment installation
- Experience with CMAR delivery methods preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Strong communication, leadership, and coordination skills
Assistant Project Managers:
- Candidates with treatment plant experience who are ready to step into a Project Manager path are encouraged to apply

Travel
- Based in Ames, IA with regular travel to assigned project sites across Central Iowa and statewide
