Narrative:
The Commercial Welder (CW) is responsible for efficiently and effectively fabricating various laser cut and folded metal product, including their cutting, forming, fit up and welding. Using both hand tools and shop equipment this position requires the skillful manufacturing of products according to drawings, bills of materials, patterns, fixtures and other work instructions. The CW is expected to fully understand the complete assembly of both individual components as well as complete systems. The CW is required to work with engineering on developing fixtures and better methods to assemble customer and MetalFab group products. The CW is responsible to maintain the equipment for commercial welding.
Job Duties/Requirements:
- The CW is responsible to manage and maintain their equipment and shadow boards. Informing management if any tools are lost or broken.
- The CW is responsible of making sure consumables are available to complete work on the floor. The CW must inform purchasing if parts/materials need to be ordered.
- The CW is required to have an exceptional understanding of blue prints and weld symbols, as well as how material moves during the welding process. The CW must use these skills to fabricate parts to match the print.
- The CW must know how to setup, adjust and operate all types of welding and plasma/flame cutting equipment. For joining and cutting materials. The CW must be extremely skilled with the GTAW and GMAW welding processes.
- The CW must setup and maintain in good working order a variety of shop equipment including, saws, end formers, rollers, Bend Paks, perforating machines, press brakes, presses, shears, etc.
- The CW must perform all duties with a constant eye toward maintaining a high standard for and improving quality at all times.
- The CW is responsible for keeping their area clean and organized as to help with production and the work flow of products.
- Safety glasses, and/or welding helmets, safety shoes and gloves shall be worn at all times to maintain health and safety. Hearing protection is available for use by the shop saw and for times when other loud noise requires it.
- The CW like all employees is expected to perform their duties at a high rate of productivity, while maintaining the highest level of quality. Management will set expectations regarding individual performance goals and objectives.
Recommended Qualifications:
- Strong GTAW skills for thin stainless steel
- 5 years experience welding in a manufacturing setting
- Knowledge of Blue prints and welding symbols
- Leadership qualities with a drive for continuous improvement in productivity, quality and service.
- Excellent attention to detail in all aspects of job responsibilities.
- Capability of working independently with limited supervision
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities for yourself and others and to train and direct others to achieve desired objectives.
Hours: 7:30am - 4:00pm Monday through Friday
