Contract Wood Framing Carpenter – Job Description
Location: Huntsville, Alabama
Position Type: Contract / Temporary Assignment
Duration: Approximately 6 Weeks (Potential Extension Based on Project Needs)
Position Summary
ECG is seeking experienced Wood Framing Carpenters for a multi-family/commercial wood framing project in Huntsville, AL. Carpenters will be responsible for framing walls, floors, roofs, stair systems, and structural components while maintaining high standards for quality, productivity, and safety.
This is a project-based contract position expected to last approximately six (6) weeks, with the possibility of extension depending on project workload and future projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform wood framing installation for:
- Walls
- Floors
- Roof systems
- Blocking
- Sheathing
- Stairs
- Structural framing components
- Read and interpret:
- Construction drawings
- Framing layouts
- Specifications
- Scope documents
- Measure, cut, and assemble wood and engineered framing materials accurately
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently
- Maintain productivity while meeting project schedules and quality standards
- Follow all ECG safety procedures and OSHA requirements
- Work closely with:
- Superintendents
- Foremen
- Other trades onsite
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Assist with material handling and site logistics as needed
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of wood framing experience required
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- No felony convictions
- Experience in:
- Multi-family framing
- Commercial wood framing
- Large residential framing projects
- Ability to read tape measures and framing layouts
- Knowledge of framing methods, tools, and materials
- Ability to work at heights and perform physically demanding work
- Reliable transportation to the project site
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Must have basic PPE and hand tools
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 certification preferred
- Experience working on large-scale framing crews
- Scissor lift or aerial lift experience
- Ability to lead small crews is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry 50+ lbs regularly
- Stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work at heights throughout the shift
- Work in active construction environments

- Guardrail and fall protection compliance
ECG’s safety and health program also requires all workers to report hazards immediately, use required PPE, and comply with all project safety procedures.
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time project hours
- Overtime may be available based on project schedule
