HOURS: 8-hour workdays (40 hours per week)
SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday; 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

HVAC Sheet Metal Mechanic Apprentice Job Description:

Superior Skilled Trades is seeking an HVAC Sheet Metal Apprentice to join our New London Conneticut Operations Group to perform fabrication, assembly, installation, and repair of sheet metal components and equipment. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and product specifications to determine appropriate fabrication and installation methods.

Qualifications for HVAC Sheet Metal Mechanic Apprentice:

Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating.
Assembling, and installing sheet metal products.
Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material to develop and trace patterns of product or parts or uses templates.
Set up and operate fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, and routers, to cut, bend, block and form, or straighten materials.
Communicate clearly and effectively with supervisor and crew members.
Works with other trades to coordinate work on the job site.
Keep trade licenses and certifications current.
Attend all safety training provided and/or sponsored by NEMSI.
Follow all NEMSI safety policies, procedures, and use personal protective equipment when performing installation and/or servicing HVAC systems.
Interact with clients in a professional and courteous manner while maintaining a clean and neat appearance.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the journeyman assigned to.

Requirements for HVAC Sheet Metal Mechanic Apprentice:

High School diploma or equivalent
Post-secondary vocational or technical school diploma in Sheet Metal 2 from an accredited Institution required OR a recognized apprenticeship program.
Experience a plus, NEMSI will train the right candidates
Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent communication and written skills are a must.
Clean driving record required
Must pass background & drug test.
Boiler and steam system experience preferred
Strong troubleshooting, repair, and diagnostic skills
