Ravelin Manufacturing | Cincinnati, OH |
Most shops hand you a print and a tired VMC. We’ll hand you a Makino horizontal that runs lights-out every night, a Swiss that’s been waiting for someone good enough to wake it up, and parts that come off metal 3D printers in Inconel and titanium needing datum and fixturing strategies most programmers have never had to think about.
If you’re the guy everyone in your shop walks over to when a job is going sideways – and you’re out of hard problems where you are – read on.
Who we are
Ravelin is a defense manufacturer in the Cincinnati area combining metal additive (laser powder bed fusion) with precision CNC machining. We build hard parts in hard materials – Inconel 718, titanium, stainless – for defense. That’s all we do. Small team, fast pace, zero bureaucracy.
The job
This is an A-level machinist-programmer role. You’ll program and run the toughest jobs in the shop, set the programming standards, and help raise the level of the people around you. For the right person, this role can evolve into a leadership role.
■ Program and run across our CNC equipment: Makino, DMG MORI, Fanuc, Tsugami, and Sodick – horizontal, vertical, lathe, Swiss, and wire EDM.
■ Program the hard stuff: Inconel 718, titanium, stainless. Tight tolerances, custom thread forms, thread milling, thin walls.
■ Finish-machine printed parts: datum, fixture, and machine LPBF near-net-shape parts. This is where you’ll learn things no other shop in town can teach you.
■ Make it run lights-out: toolpaths, tool-life management, probing, and workholding you trust enough to walk away from overnight.
■ Model what you need: fixtures, soft jaws, and part mods in SolidWorks.
■ Lead new product launches: take complex new parts from first model to proven production process – DFM feedback to engineering, process plan, fixturing, first article, and the handoff to the floor.
■ Mentor the team: coach our machinists and programmers up, hands-on, and set the standards for setup sheets, tool libraries, program control, and posts.
What you bring
■ 8+ years programming and running CNC in a job shop or production environment – and you were the go-to guy.
■ Expert in Mastercam, Fusion, or SolidCAM. Deep experience in NX, Esprit, hyperMILL, or another pro CAM? We’ll talk.
■ Strong SolidWorks CAD skills – you can model a fixture, not just open a STEP file.
■ Horizontal and 4th/5th-axis milling plus lathe. Fanuc G-code fluent – you edit at the control and understand what your post is doing.
■ Real time in exotics. You know why Inconel punishes a dwelling tool.
■ GD&T fluency; first-article and in-process inspection discipline.
■ You’ve led complex parts from new launch to production, not just run someone else’s program.
■ You’ve trained people and you’re ready to lead, not just run a spindle.
Big plus: Swiss (Tsugami, Star, Citizen), wire EDM, metal AM/printed-part machining, Fanuc macros and probing cycles, lights-out/automation, AS9100 environment.
